Local Attractions:
Tower of London has been
a citadel, royal palace, seat of government and also the scene
of some of the bloodiest events in English history. Kings,
queens, princes, princesses and people of the highest rank
have shared the same fate within it's walls as spies, plotters
and traitors. The Tower of London is where they were tortured,
beheaded, murdered or imprisoned. It is also the nation's
treasure house, containing the Crown Jewels.
Tower Bridge is a world renowned landmark. You can go inside
this fantastic structure, and from the walkways there are
excellent river panoramas of the city. Open April to October
10:00am to 6:30pm, and from November to March 10:00am to
6:45pm.
London Dungeon Now one of Europe's number one attractions, the
London Dungeon has become infamous for its unique depiction of
medieval torture and execution. Dare you brave the "Gauntlet
of Flames" to escape the Great Fire of London? Take a boat
trip on "Judgement Day" to face a firing squad, after being
sentenced to death by a sombre 18th century judge.
Bateaux London Capture the excitement of London from the best
seat on the River Thames with London's premier restaurant
cruises company. Take time out for lunch, luxuriate in the
magic of fine food of an evening cruise, or relax to live jazz
on a Sunday afternoon, whilst taking in some of London's most
spectacular sights.
Shakespeare's Globe Theatre Many of Shakespeare's plays were
written for and first produced at the Globe Theatre. First
built in the 16th century, burned down and demolished in the
17th, the Globe has been painstakingly reconstructed to
recreate the atmosphere of 400 years ago. Theatre performances
take place between May and September, but visitors can enjoy
the Globe's Exhibition and Guided Tour all year round.
Tate Modern is one of the great museums of modern art in the
world. Housed in the former Bankside Power Station, Tate
Modern displays the Tate's collection of international modern
art from 1900 to the present day, including major works by
Bacon, Dali, Matisse, Picasso and Warhol, as well as
contemporary work by artists such as Rebecca Horn, Steve
McQueen and Gillian Wearing.
Old Spital fields Market Hip clothing, accessories, organic
food and paintings, on Thursdays they have designer clothes
and accessories.
